Preschool Works, But it Costs: The Cost and Benefits for a Quality Preschool Experience

In her April 28th editorial, Krista Ramsey discusses the benefits of preschool as well as the barriers to giving every child a high-quality Pre-K experience. Examining budget cuts, preschool wait-lists, long-term benefits of preschool, "cost ineffectiveness of too-late remedial work," per-pupil spending, and the opinions of educators and parents, Ramsey concludes with a quote from Deborah Bradshaw, director of early childhood education for CPS:

"We have really compelling data to show that preschool makes a difference. Now we have to figure out exactly whom do we have to convince with that compelling evidence."
